DUBBURG made virtually all to win a below average contest. The gelding had run well at Dundalk on his debut and was a comfortable winner today. According to winning trainer David Marnane, "DUBBURG is a real nice horse but we weren't sure he'd handle today's ground. He's a well bred sort and shows plenty of pace at home. I've no real plans yet."
FAST HANNA ran a sound race in second and can now go handicapping. He probably needs to improve to win a maiden but this was an encouraging display and he should pick up a race at some stage.
FOXCENT comes from the family of Bradawn Breever and ran fine on his debut. He was unable to match the pace of the first two but cannot be ruled out of similar events soon.
Other newcomers to run sound races included ORPEN WINGER and TOBAR NA HINFE. Neither look world beaters but can pay their way in time.
UCANTOO was the eye-catcher. The gelding raced prominently but wasn't given a hard race to finish sixth. He is no star but is now eligible for handicaps and may be worth following.
DANE RIVER was fatally injured after breaking a leg in the straight.
Non-Runners were the three reserves.
