Permission was given for Star Seeking (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
The Starter reported that Serenading (GB) was reluctant to enter the stalls.
James Fanshawe was informed that the mare could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
As it was the second occasion within the previous 12 months that Serenading (GB) had been reported, a further report within the same period would mean the mare would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.
Just inside the 2 furlong marker, Roman Mist (IRE), placed fourth, lugged right-handed giving a slight bump to Serenading (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Roman Mist (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, DON’T TELL CLAIRE, ridden by Jack Mitchell, Kestenna (GB), unplaced, ridden by Robert Havlin, Ready To Venture (GB), unplaced, ridden by Adam Farragher, and Passionova (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Pat Cosgrave.
Mitchell was suspended for 5 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to continually drift left- handed throughout the final furlong without correction causing Kestenna (GB) to be checked for several strides and Ready To Venture (GB) to become short of room approximately 1 furlong out and thereafter approximately ½ furlong out Passionova (IRE), whilst in a challenging position, was carried notably off its intended line with Cosgrave having to take a check and switch the filly right-handed across heels to continue his run.
The performance of Sunrise Valley (USA), which started favourite and finished unplaced, beaten by 12¼ lengths, was considered.
It was noted that the representative of Sir Michael Stoute could offer no explanation for the filly’s performance on this occasion other than a report from the rider that Sunrise Valley (USA) ran too free on this occasion.
