The ground as well as being soft is probably a bit patchy, and he was on and off (the bridle) but he stayed on well from the last. Edward P Harty, trainer
The Stewards interviewed Mrs John Harrington, trainer of Rock The World and MacNicholson, in relation to the late withdrawal of her charges owing to the change in going. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that she wanted to run both horses and they were at the track ready to run, but that the ground deteriorated significantly since the time fixed for withdrawals had passed and she did what she felt was best for her horses by withdrawing them late. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted the explanations offered and took no further action. The Stewards enquired into an incident approaching the turn for home involving Arbre De Vie (FR), ridden by R. Walsh, Hammersly Lake (FR), ridden by P.J. Carberry, Daneking (GB), ridden by P. Townend, King Of The Picts, ridden by K.C. Sexton, Sort It Out, ridden by M.P. Walsh, Jimmy Two Times, ridden by L.P. Dempsey, and Bally Longford, ridden by J.J. Burke, where it appeared interference took place. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion J.J. Burke was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having taken his good record into account, they suspended him for 2 racedays.
