Bolger dominates cross country opener
When you see Uncle Junior setting the bar the other day at 14, this lad is only seven and this will be his job for the future. Nina gave him a great ride and the second ran well also.
Heathfield another for McManus
He'd a little mishap and had some time off but maybe it was a blessing in disguise as he's a smashing old-fashioned horse. He gave an exhibition there today and Paul is riding with great confidence. The further they go the better he goes. He jumps well and galloped away. Hopefully it is onwards and upwards from here. It was a lovely performance and I'm very happy.
Annie Power back to her best
She did everything we thought. I thought Analifet ran a fantastic race considering she made a bad take at the second last. Ruby wasn't going to let her (Annie Power) get low at the last. He just angled her out and she popped it. She won convincingly. We could go to France or put her away. We'll have a word with the owner. Her first few bits of work after her fall at Cheltenham I was very concerned that she didn't work well. I thought she was afraid to let herself down. It took her until her third bit of work after Cheltenham to stretch out a bit. The last bit of work she was definitely back to herself and I was keen to bring her here.
Petite Parisienne gets Cooper off mark
She's a fantastic mare. Compared to Annie Power this mare is like little and large but she has a huge engine. I thought Bryan was in a bit of trouble as going to the fourth last he was tucked in but the minute he got daylight he just swung to the outside and came round the whole lot of them. She has a big engine for a little mare. Her change of gear was fantastic. She is a nice prospect. Bryan said she'd get further and there was no sign of her stopping. She could go for the Prix Alain Du Breil at Auteuil if the owners want to go there.
Martin doubles up with Gallant Oscar
He did it super and jumped well. Mark was very good on him. He won last year in Naas on a little deeper ground and was very impressive and was unlucky in an Irish National. The ground was right and the trip was right. He ran a blinder in Scotland, and I always thought there could be a day like this in him.
Sort It Out gives McManus four for today
He was entitled to be there or thereabouts on his County Hurdle run which was probably over an inadequate trip. The ground as well as being soft is probably a bit patchy, and he was on and off (the bridle) but he stayed on well from the last.
Nambour brings up a Mullins milestone
He's a lovely big chasing type and stays all day. I'd imagine he'll go hurdling next season and then go chasing.
