Prior to this race, the representative of Paul Nicholls was asked to explain the reason why he was running Southfield Harvest (GB) here at Chepstow on going described as Good to Soft, Good in places having reported that Southfield Harvest (GB) would prefer softer ground following its run over fences at Wincanton on 2 February 2023 on ground described as Good to Soft.
The explanation given by the trainer’s representative that they were prepared to let the gelding take its chance on the ground on this occasion by reverting back to hurdles and on a more galloping track was noted.
