The Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Acid (GB), ridden by C.D. Hayes, unplaced, Athenry Boy, ridden by L.F. Roche, placed second and Locus Standi, ridden by R.P. Cleary, unplaced. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental in nature and took no further action Gary Paul Halpin, rider of Magistral (GB), trained by J.J.Lambe, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran short of room in the straight.
An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (80 = 10st) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Any horse rated above 80 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 80 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 80 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
