He's a bit inconsistent, but he did it well today and it's great to get a win out of him. They went very quick. Hopefully, he's alright in the morning and we'll take it from there. I'm delighted for Peter (Smithers, jockey), it's nice for Frank (Berry) and JP (McManus) to give him a chance. The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Padraig Roche, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Shadow Rider (FR), placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that this is a horse with lots of ability but he is very hard on himself. He felt that he may have benefitted from going right handed today
Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation offered.
An extended handicap hurdle for five years old and upwards (140 = 11st 12lbs) Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
