Permission was given for Wildfell (IRE) and Tonal (FR) to both wear a red hood to the start; for ARTHUR’S REALM (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start and to be mounted in the chute.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 2 furlongs out involving Dirtyoldtown (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Rhys Clutterbuck; Hortzadar (GB), unplaced, ridden by Daniel Tudhope and Skilled Warrior (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Ethan Jones.
Being a 7lb claimer Jones was accompanied in the enquiry by a BHA jockey coach.
Jones was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed without sufficient correction carrying Hortzadar (GB) off its intended line and causing Tudhope to take a check for several strides, which resulted in Dirtyoldtown (IRE) being checked when tightened for room.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong out involving the winner Look Back Smiling (IRE), ridden by Brandon Wilkie; Thunder Roar (GB), placed second, ridden by Jamie Spencer and ARHTUR’S REALM (IRE), placed third, ridden by Rossa Ryan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Look Back Smiling (IRE)’s placing as although Thunder Roar (GB) and ARTHUR’S REALM (IRE) were moved marginally off their intended lines, the Stewards were of the opinion that both Thunder Roar (GB) and ARTHUR’S REALM (IRE) suffered no significant loss of momentum, to be beaten ½ a length and neck respectively at the line.
The Stewards therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Wilkie had taken reasonable steps to correct Look Back Smiling (IRE), who was hanging right-handed.
Approaching the final furlong Magic Memories (IRE), placed fifth, shifted right-handed moving Thunder Roar (GB), placed second, off its intended line who in turn gave a bump to Maysong (GB), unplaced.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and had not improved the placing of either Magic Memories (IRE) or Thunder Roar (GB).
Following the race, Daniel Muscutt reported that Clear Angel (GB), placed fourth, was denied a clear run 2 furlongs out.
Alistair Rawlinson reported that Helter Skelter (IRE), placed sixth, hung left-handed inside the final 2 furlongs.
