An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on two occasions inside the final ½ furlong involving El Naseri (IRE), placed third, ridden by Paul Mulrennan and Splinter (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Tony Hamilton.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved El Naseri’S (IRE) placing as in the first incident Splinter (GB) lost little momentum despite receiving a slight bump from El Naseri (IRE), who finished a head in front at the line, and in the second incident just before the winning post, the interference was 50/50, caused by both horses coming together.
The Stewards therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered and found the first incident to be accidental as El Naseri (IRE) hung quickly away from the whip before being promptly corrected.
