Permission was given for John Joiner (GB) to wear cheek pieces in the Parade Ring only and for Atyaaf (GB), Fuel Injection (GB) and Raffle King (IRE) to go early to post.
Raffle King (IRE) reared over and unseated its rider on the way out onto the course but was caught immediately.
Having been examined by the doctor and Veterinary Surgeon at the start, both the rider and gelding were deemed fit to race.
The winner, Red Invader (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 2 April 2019 where the gelding finished ninth of ten, beaten by 13¾ lengths.
John Butler’s explanation that Red Invader (IRE) had been more settled in the preliminaries on this occasion, was noted.
The gelding was routine tested.
Shortly after the start, a free-running Captain Ryan (GB), placed fifth, hung left-handed, causing the rider of Atyaaf (GB), placed third, to take a check, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
