It's exactly what happened last year but he got beat on the line then. This year it just paid off and he was lucky enough to get out. He needs to settle and needs cover, around here it's so hard because a lot of horses all week having been on the pace. It's relief, if you had asked me one horse that I thought would have won during the week it would have been him. Then when the others won I said this was the one that was going to get beat!. He's a classy horse, he's quick over his hurdles and two miles is his ideal trip. The plan was to come back for this race. It's not often it works out so it's great. The horses are really just alive. They are even fresh riding out, bucking. It's hard to explain, they are just on the crest of a wave at the minute. It's great, it's not going to last forever but long may it last. The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident in the dip involving Volantis, ridden by K.M. Donoghue, Kaleb, ridden by J.M. Quinlan, and Dark Note (GB), ridden by Mr A.P. Ryan, where it appeared horses got tight for room
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
The Raceday Stewards interviewed G.B. Noonan, rider of Walnut Beach, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he thought he was closer to the placings than he actually was. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards found the rider in breach of Reg.10.3.(b) (unnecessary use after chance gone)(first offence) and having taken his record into account suspended him for two race days
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Raceday Stewards that Volantis trained by Ross O'Sullivan was found to have blood on his right nostril post race
J.B. Foley, rider of Rocky Blue, trained by Thomas Mullins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount pulled up injured.
