Arbour Supreme put in arguably one of his best rounds of jumping in his nine starts over fences to date and his comfortable five-length win brought Willie Mullins over the ?2,000,000 mark for the season.
Held up for a long period by Niall Madden, the pair took a wide berth throughout the 3m6f contest and began to creep closer into contention down the back before tracking the leaders on the turn into the straight.
The winner was less than fluent at the second last but that was his sole mistake really and he got away with it to go on from Black Apalachi.
Dessie Hughes charge took the odd liberty throughout but having always been prominent, he stayed on gamely under Ruby Walsh to claim a well held second and he would have probably been booked for third had Hold The Pin not came to grief at the last.
Tony Martin's charge was jumping the last upsides but was under more pressure than the winner at the time who never came off the bit.
Ballytrim cruised through to challenge four out but he simply wasn't good enough after jumping the last with a couple of others staying on better at the finish.
He was denied third spot by a shorthead by the fast finishing Sea Diva who came from a long way back to nick the place money. Sea Diva has been knocking on the door since winning last December and should have a smaller race in the closest.
Of the winner Willie Mullins said he would target some good staying chases on better ground and he did mention the Hennessy at Newbury and the Grand National Aintree although he did signal concern over noting getting in off the current rating.
