Permission was given for Followthesteps (IRE) and Penny Pot Lane (GB) to go to post early.
Dougie Costello the rider of Followthesteps (IRE) was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slow to start.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Costello explained that the blindfold took 3 attempts to remove at it was stuck on the bridle.
The winner Big Les (IRE) appeared to show an improvement in form, compared with its previous run at Nottingham on 6 November 2019, where the gelding finished tenth of ten beaten 14½ lengths.
The representative of Karen Mclintock explained that the gelding may have appreciated the sounder tapeta surface on this occasion following the Heavy ground at Nottingham.
His explanation was noted and Big Les (IRE) was routine tested.
Approximately 1 furlong after the start, Penny Pot Lane (GB), unplaced, clipped the heel of Gowanbuster (GB), unplaced.
However, after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Gowanbuster (GB), unplaced, had been struck into right hind.
