Permission was given for Golden Voice (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
RAY DAWSON, the rider of the winner, Point Lynas (IRE) was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level from just inside the final 1 ½ furlongs.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after three instances of interference involving Master Richard (GB), placed second, ridden by David Egan and the winner, Point Lynas (IRE), ridden by Ray Dawson.
In the first instance of interference just inside the final 2 furlongs, Master Richard (GB) angled right catching Point Lynas (IRE) on heels, causing its rider to check and to be carried right off its intended line.
In the second incident, Master Richard (GB) shifted right-handed approaching the final furlong, giving Point Lynas (IRE) a bump.
In the third incident, approaching the line, Point Lynas (IRE) shifted left giving Master Richard (GB) a light bump.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Point Lynas (IRE)’s placing as the two pieces of interference from Master Richard (GB) to Point Lynas (IRE) 2 furlongs out and again approaching the final furlong were more significant than the light brush caused by the winner to the second only strides before the line and that both horses had drifted left independently over the final ¾ of a furlong.
In the first incident just inside the final 2 furlongs, Egan was cautioned for careless riding in that when angling right, he had caused Dawson to check off heels and be carried off his intended line.
In the second incident, the interference was found to be accidental as Master Richard (GB) had shifted quickly right, despite the rider taking reasonable steps to prevent it from doing so, giving Point Lynas (IRE) a bump.
In the third incident approaching the line, the interference was again found to be accidental as Point Lynas (IRE) had shifted quickly left giving Master Richard (GB) a light bump.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong involving Bolthole, unplaced, ridden by Jamie Spencer; Mr Professor (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Rossa Ryan; New Kingdom (GB), unplaced, ridden by Jack Mitchell; Al Marmar (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Hollie Doyle and City Runner (IRE), placed third, ridden by George Rooke.
The interference was found to be accidental as Bolthole had shifted left-handed as City Runner (IRE) edged slightly right, at the same time as Ryan had committed for a gap to his left on Mr Professor (IRE), resulting in his mount bumping Al Marmar (IRE), which in turn shifted left-handed interfering with the weakening New Kingdom (GB), which had to be checked for several strides.
Following the race, Rossa Ryan reported that Mr Professor (IRE), unplaced, was denied a clear run.
