S.T. McCullagh, rider of Grand Dante (USA), trained by Diego Dias, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slowly into stride
D.P. McDonogh, rider of The Road Is Long, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was hampered after one furlong and also in the straight
R. Whearty, rider of Altoir Na Greine, trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran free to the start and hung right in the straight
C. Horgan, rider of Sovereign Banter, trained by E. J. O'Grady, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was lugging right in the closing stages and clipped a heal as a result. Having viewed a recording of the incident and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
The Raceday Stewards interviewed G.F. Carroll, rider of Fiery Lucy (GB), concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles. In his evidence, Mr Carroll explained that his mount stood awkwardly in the stalls, jumped right for the first two strides and he kept straight thereafter. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered evidence from the rider, the Raceday Stewards accepted his explanation on this occasion and took no further action other than to remind Mr. Carroll of his future responsibilities in respect of Rule 211.
