Fiery Lucy steps up for Cromwell and Carroll
It was a very good run the first day and I hoped that she could do that today. She won well and Gary thought that she might get further in time. She probably knew her job a little bit better today and I suppose every day is a school day for them. She was quite professional. I’m not sure where she will go from here, but she loved that top of the ground.
Fair Taxes makes virtually all under O'Connor
Universally again shows his liking for Fairyhouse
Aurora Nova powers home to give Carroll Fairyhouse double
She’s a very tough, genuine filly but makes life hard for herself. She is generally slow out of the stalls but wasn’t too bad today. She was unlucky the last day as she was coming with a run and the gap closed. She showed a nice turn of foot and hopefully there will be another day with her.
Last to first for Booyea in Fairyhouse Rated Race
The plan was to go to Limerick last week but he had a bit of an issue and couldn’t run. I was very keen to run before we went to the Curragh on Derby weekend and there weren’t any suitable races for him so I said to the lads we’d stick him into this. We are thinking of dropping back in trip to a mile at the Curragh anyway so I said we could give him a bit of a sharpener at Fairyhouse and see how that goes.
Sixpack continues on an upward curve up in trip
I thought stepping up in trip might bring about a bit more improvement. He seems to stay well. We were running him over a mile and a quarter as he was a horse that travelled very well but the last time was a mile and a half and Ben (Coen) said there was no problem stepping up again. Shane done a good job on him. It was a true run race and he hit the line well. He’s a progressive horse. They are an Australian syndicate that are with me a while and are very lucky. There are a few staying races at the Curragh on Derby weekend, and he could be a horse for Galway. He might get up the hill in Galway.
Third time lucky for Weld trained Brosna Town
. The second horse got me racing a bit earlier than I wanted to but in fairness my lad put his head down and galloped all the way through the line. He stayed every yard of it. That’s my first winner for Mr Weld. He’s been very good to me this season and hopefully we can keep it going.
Lady Christa makes all to land Fairyhouse finale under Kennedy
She should have been a winner before this as she was unlucky in Navan last year when she was hampered by a loose horse. Keithen has her well worked out and he gave her a lovely ride. I’m delighted for the owners, David Llewelyn and John Runeckles, as they have been very patient. David is based in Singapore and John is in the UK. They have a few horses with me but have never seen them run live.
