Permission was given Narjes (GB) to go early to post.
William Carson, the rider of Narjes (GB), drawn 2, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slow to start.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Carson’s explanation that his hand slipped from the blindfold on the first attempt and required two attempts to remove was noted.
An enquiry was held to consider interference on the run to the line when Enmeshing (GB), placed second, ridden by Daniel Muscutt, and the winner, Alvaro (GB), ridden by Franny Norton, both interfered with King Athelstan (IRE), placed third, ridden by Hector Crouch.
Muscutt and Norton were cautioned for careless riding as Muscutt edged slightly left without sufficient correction as Norton allowed his mount to drift right-handed away from the whip without sufficient correction resulting in Crouch taking a check when tight for room.
Following the race, Michael Blanshard reported that Famous Dynasty (IRE), unplaced, was unsuited by the slow early pace and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, shortly after the race, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
