Permission was given for PERCY’S LAD to wear a red hood to the start; for Dancing Magic (IRE) to go early wearing a red hood to the start and to be mounted in the chute; for Fools Rush In (IRE) to go early to post and to be mounted in the chute.
Island Native (IRE) arrived at the start with a small amount of blood in its mouth.
Having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
Shortly after leaving the stalls Fools Rush In (IRE), unplaced, lugged quickly right-handed at the same time as Island Native (IRE), unplaced, lugged left-handed causing Trip To Rome (IRE), unplaced, to lose its early position when tightened for room, before Fools Rush In (IRE) then continued lugging right- handed despite its riders efforts to straighten the gelding and lightly bumped with Island Native (IRE), which in turn inconvenienced Revich (IRE), unplaced.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approximately ½ a furlong after the start a hard pulling Island Native (IRE), unplaced, shifted left- handed crowding Fools Rush In (IRE), unplaced, onto Trip To Rome (IRE), unplaced, which was hampered when tightened for room against the rail.
Following the race, David Egan reported that Trip To Rome (IRE), unplaced, suffered interference shortly after the start.
The Veterinary Officer reported that FINN’S CHARM, placed sixth, had lost its left- fore shoe.
