The Stewards heard an objection lodged with the Clerk of the Scales by Mr M.J.M. O'Sullivan, rider of Western Comandor, placed second, against Ginnets Girl, ridden by Mr J.L. Gleeson, placed first, on the grounds that his mount was crossed by the winner turning in. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, Mr M.J.M. O'Sullivan stated that he received contact from the winner when racing through the wings of the second last hurdle and later at the road crossing where he felt that the winner had crossed him and while he did not take a pull at that point, in his opinion it had cost him the race taking into consideration that the winning distance was a half a length. Mr J.L. Gleeson stated that his mount was green and racing on the wide outside. In his opinion he had maintained a straight line and referenced that Locorotondo had edged left which tightened the second placed horse. He believed that he had not crossed Western Comandor at any point mentioned by Mr M.J.M. O'Sullivan
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the winner Ginnets Girl had not improved her finishing position, so they overruled the objection and made no alteration to the Judges placings
