An enquiry was held to consider why Stevie Donohoe, who was declared to ride Ravi Road (IRE), trained by Mark Usher, and FIGHTING TEMERAIRE (IRE), trained by Dean Ivory and was required to provide a breath sample, had failed to arrive.
The Stewards interviewed The Clerk of the Scales, Donohoe's Valet, The BHA Testing Officer, and Stevie Donohoe via the telephone.
The Stewards gave permission for Kieran O’Neill and Rhys Clutterbuck to be substituted and forwarded the matter to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
Permission was given for Heatherdown Hero (GB), Smarden Flyer (IRE) and My Bonnie Lassie (GB) to wear a red hood to post; for My Bonnie Lassie (GB) and Shifter (GB) to be mounted in the chute and for Alsamyah (GB) to go early to post.
The Raceday Privilege request in relation to Alsamyah (GB), trained by Brett Johnson, was not submitted.
Johnson was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that all Raceday Privilege requests are submitted by 1pm on the day before racing.
The Starter reported that Kenilworth King (USA) was unruly in the stalls and was withdrawn at 2:46pm.
William Jarvis was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
The winner Luna Queen (GB) appeared to show an improvement in form, compared with its previous run at Great Yarmouth on 10th August 2022, where the filly finished fourth of five, beaten 6 lengths.
Conrad Allen’s explanation that the filly had benefited from returning to Course and Distance at Lingfield Park where the filly had previously ran well, was noted.
Following the race Richard Kingscote reported that Speranzoso (GB), placed sixth, ran too free and Hollie Doyle reported that Smarden Flyer (IRE), unplaced, had been unsettled by the unruly horse in the stalls.
