Shortly after arriving at the start, a cheekpiece of THE EAGLE’S NEST (IRE) came off, but due to the gelding being unruly the stalls handlers were unable to re-fit the cheekpiece and THE EAGLE’S NEST (IRE) ran with only one cheekpiece.
Alexandra Dunn's representative reported that the omission of the cheekpiece did not affect the performance of The Eagle's Nest (IRE).
The cheekpiece was inspected and as it was found to be in a serviceable condition, no further action was taken.
An enquiry was held to consider interference after the first furlong when Waqt (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Rossa Ryan interfered with Live Dangerously (GB), unplaced, ridden by Liam Jones.
Ryan was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient correction causing Jones to take a check for three or four strides.
Following the race, Rossa Ryan reported that Waqt (IRE), placed sixth, hung left-handed throughout and Shelly Birkett reported that Boxatricks (IRE), placed fifth, hung right-handed under pressure.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Live Dangerously (GB), unplaced, lost its right fore shoe.
