Leaving the stalls, Optician (GB), drawn 2, jumped right-handed bumping Black Smoke (IRE), drawn 3, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider 2 incidents of interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Optician (GB), ridden by Rossa Ryan, Trusty Scout (IRE), placed third, ridden by Cam Hardie, Louisiana Bay (IRE), placed second, ridden by Jonny Peate and Kemerton (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Richard Kingscote.
In the first incident passing the furlong marker, Ryan was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to hang right-handed into the whip without timely correction hampering Trusty Scout (IRE) which was carried off its intended line towards Kemerton (IRE), which in turn gave a light bump to Louisiana Bay (IRE).
The second incident inside the final ½ furlong, was found to be accidental as Louisiana Bay (IRE) had edged slightly left-handed briefly crowding Kemerton (IRE) for room which in turn caused the rider of Trusty Scout (IRE) to take a precautionary check after ending up close to the heels of Optician (GB), which had also drifted right-handed at the same time but was clear of Trusty Scout (IRE).
Following the race, Callum Hutchinson reported that Black Smoke (IRE), placed fifth, was denied a clear run 1 furlong out.
Cam Hardie reported that Trusty Scout (IRE), placed third, suffered interference inside the final furlong and William Cox reported that Camusdarach (IRE), unplaced, ran too freely.
