Permission was given for Vindobala (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and go to post early and for Double March (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Leaving the stalls Double March (IRE), placed, fourth, jumped right-handed as Vindobala (IRE), unplaced, jumped left-handed, leaving SID’S ANNIE, unplaced, and Dayzee (IRE), placed third, short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of any runner.
Approximately 2 ½ furlongs out, Double March (IRE), placed fourth, hung quickly left-handed as Too Much (GB), unplaced, edged right-handed causing Chealamy (GB), placed second, to be checked in running but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of any runner.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching 2 furlongs out, involving Dayzee (IRE), placed third, ridden by Andrea Atzeni and Too Much (GB), unplaced, ridden by P J McDonald.
Atzeni was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed when insufficiently clear of Too Much (GB), causing McDonald to take a slight check.
The performance of Too Much (GB) which finished unplaced, was considered.
P J McDonald reported that the filly ran flat and the representative of James Horton further added that Too Much (GB) weakened quickly after suffering slight interference at the top of the straight; their explanations were noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported a post-race examination of the filly, during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.
