The winner, My Brother Mike (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Ripon on 30 August 2021 where the gelding finished sixth of eight, beaten by 14 lengths.
John Stimpson’s explanation that My Brother Mike (IRE) had benefited from a 29 day freshen up following two quick runs in succession which had come after a 140 day absence, was noted.

An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start when Eevilynn Drew (GB), unplaced, ridden by Marco Ghiani, interfered with No Day Never (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Saffie Osborne.
Ghiani was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as he had manoeuvred left-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear of No Day Never (IRE), causing Osborne to take a severe check and lose her good early position.
Following the race, Marco Ghiani reported that Eevilynn Drew (GB), which started joint-favourite and finished unplaced, hung left-handed throughout; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding shortly after the race failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Jack Mitchell reported that Dark Esteem (IRE), unplaced, hung right-handed throughout.
