I think we are getting the hang of it and he was brilliant today. We tried these tactics the last day in Punchestown but they absolutely walked. I said to David Mullins that day 'are we getting it right or wrong' and he said you're spot on but the race didn't go to plan and to stick with it. That's what gave us the confidence to try and ride him the same today. The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Monkshood, trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have blood at his nostrils probably as a result of his fall during this race.
An extended handicap hurdle for five yrs old and upwards that are EBF eligible and have not won a hurdle race before 30th April, 2017 and have not run as a two or three yr old under any Rules of Racing and have not won a steeplechase Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race or hurdle races after calculation of the handicap shall carry any penalty or penalties which may be allotted by the Handicapper.
