I thought the ground, after the rain yesterday, might catch him and that's why he was such a big price. He was actually entered for a beginners' chase at Kilbeggan on Friday but that mightn't happen now although we'll mix it away now for the summer. Every day he has run badly there has been a valid excuse, so hopefully he has turned the corner now. Eugene M O'Sullivan, trainer
D.J. O'Keeffe, rider of Great Trango trained by David Harry Kelly, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got tight for room on the home bend
G.P. Halpin, rider of Take A Turn trained by Mrs Denise Foster, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was very keen throughout and hung left late on
The Stewards enquired into an incident on the home bend involving Great Trango, ridden by D.J. O'Keeffe, unplaced, Sayo (GB), ridden by Rachael Blackmore, unplaced, Hook Head, ridden by L.T. McAteer, placed fifth and Happy Company, ridden by S.P. Bird, unplaced, where it appeared that Happy Company hit the running rail and Great Tango had to check off heels. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D. J. O'Keeffe stated that he got tight for room but he was not going well enough to hold his position. Rachael Blackmore stated that her mount was struggling to hold its position and she had to check briefly. L. T. McAteer stated that his mount rolled in slightly on the bend. S. P. Bird stated that things got tight but it did not affect him. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards could not apportion blame to any rider and they took no further action. Mr. M. F. O'Donoghue, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry and was replaced by Mr. P. D. Deegan, Stipendary Steward
GENERAL INFORMATION The following Raceday Stewards acted on behalf of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board at this race meeting: Ms. Jill Farrell (Chairman), Mr. C. O'Mahony, Mr. John O'Shaughnessy, Mr. M. F. O'Donoghue
