An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately ½ a furlong out involving the winner, Love Is Golden (IRE), ridden by Franny Norton and Baileys Derbyday (GB), placed second, ridden by Joe Fanning.
The Stewards established that the interference had not improved Love Is Golden (IRE)’s placing as despite Baileys Derbyday (GB) being hampered and carried off its intended line when Love Is Golden (IRE) shifted right-handed, it was considered the ground and momentum lost by Baileys Derbyday (GB) equated to less than the beaten margin of a neck.
The incident was found to be accidental as Norton had initially corrected his mount from hanging left-handed, before the colt then shifted quickly right-handed thereby causing interference.
