The Raceday Stewards interviewed I.J. Power, rider of Elsannah, concerning his use of the whip near the finish of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, I.J. Power stated that he used the whip once in the forehand position close to the finish as he felt his mount drifting and was afraid that she might jink
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that I.J. Power was in breach of R10(3)(a) by hitting his mount in front of the saddle while his whip was held in the forehand position. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards cautioned I.J. Power on this occasion
