This horse came up the straight and planted halfway up his breeze when he saw the stands, and everyone started to laugh. But he was actually only broken two weeks and they (previous owners) thought they could put him through but he was broken quickly in ten days. He stopped-dead going up the straight and they didn't even show his breeze when he was going through the ring. But he is a Poliglote, the French Champion sire, and he only cost 6,000. Today he was a little green, hung and didn't settle but didn't do as much wrong today as the first time he was on a racecourse and I'm delighted. I took a chance buying him but he is Poliglote at the end of the day and has so much to learn still. We may have to find owners for him now as he is for sale and I'd obviously like to hold on to him - there aren't many Poliglotes around. Liz Doyle, trainer
The Stewards received a report from Ms. Joan Taylor, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, that she was unable to positively identify Darcis Boy, trained by John. M. Burke, from the markings provided on the passport. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned and from Ms. Taylor. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Darcis Boy under the provisions of Rule 90 and referred the matter to the C.E.O of the Turf Club for further investigation. The Stewards received a report from Mr. Hugh Hynes, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that Mr A.J. Fox , rider of Crezic (FR , weighed in at 1.5 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the rider was in breach of Rule 231. Having considered his previous record in this regard, the Stewards suspended him for 1 raceday. The Stewards enquired from Mr. P.D. Collins, rider of Smithscorner, trained by Robert Tyner who fell on the flat. The rider reported that his mount stumbled of his own accord and he was unseated. The following Acting Stewards acted at this race meeting: Mr. Tom Rudd Chairman Mr. Philip Mclernon Mr. Steve McDonogh Mr. P.D. Matthews.
