Kalahari King boosted some smart form coming into this and took it in good style under a determined ride from Davy Russell.

He burst through to chase the leaders after the second last and survived a slight stumble to lead before the last.

Peplum and Boulavogue tried to throw down late challenges but could never get on terms with the winner, who stayed on strongly.

He had ran a cracker to finish fourth at a big price in the Supreme Novices and again ran really well when third in the Scottish Champion Hurdle from a pound out of the handicap.

He looked the form choice and deserved his day in the sunshine after being consistent all season.

Boulavogue made it into the runner-up spot for the fourth time in a row and surely deserves to get his head in front shortly.

Peplum moved through with the runner-up, but like him couldn?t get on terms with the winner.

Spitfire Sortie made up ground at the third last and stayed on down the straight while Killyglen was up there throughout but could only keep on at the one pace from two out.

Earth And Sky was withdrawn due to the ground.
