The winner, Newtown Lad (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Carlisle on 18 February where the gelding was pulled up over three miles on soft ground.
Michael Scudamore’s explanation that Newtown Lad (IRE) benefited from the drop in class and better ground on this occasion was noted.
