He never really travelled that well. I took the cheek-pieces off him because he travelled too strong the last day - he didn't seem to travel that well today and flattened the last two but got the job done anyway. That ground was plenty quick for him and he can run away over the winter. I had to run him off his 116 mark and I knew there would be a small field so it's great he won. Under the provisions of Rule 90 (iv), the Stewards allowed Licklighter, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the horse was correctly vaccinated in accordance with Rule 91.

A novice hurdle race for four yrs old and upwards which at entry are rated 106 or less over hurdles , also open to horse rated 107-116
Weights - 4-y-o 10st 8lb; 5-y-o and up 10st 12lb
Penalties - Performances before 13th September for every 1lb above the rating of 106 1lb extra; On or after 13th September for each hurdle race won 4lb extra; Horses that have not run three times over hurdles and/or do not have a published handicap hurdle rating may enter and run at the discretion of the handicapper provided their performances are rated 116 or less.
Riders - Confined to Professional under I.N.H.S. Rules who have not lost the right to claim the allowance under Rule 52 (iii). Allowances (which are not cumulative, up to and including 17th September) who have not ridden the winners of 25 *races allowed 4lb Those who have not ridden the winners of 40 *races allowed 2lb No allowance to riders under Rule 52 (iii) may be claimed.
