The Stewards interviewed F.F. Da Silva, rider of Chilean (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found F. F. Da Silva in breach of Regulation 10.3.(i) time to respond and (b) the unnecessary hitting of a horse after its chance of winning or being placed is clearly gone. Having considered F. F

The Stewards interviewed M.P. Sheehy, rider of Gee Rex, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found M. P. Sheehy in breach of regulation 10.3.b, the unnecessary hitting of a horse after its chance of winning or being placed is clearly gone. Having considered M. P. Sheehys record in this regard the Stewards suspended M. P. Sheehy for two racedays. M.P. Sheehy was accompanied by Martin Hassett at this enquiry
G.M.Lyons, trainer of French Rain, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was distressed post race.
