Following concerns raised by the riders at the start regarding the low sun obscuring their vision at the Pond Fence, the Stewards consulted with the Clerk of the Course and ordered that this obstacle should be by-passed for this race.
Permission was given for Singlefarmpayment (GB) to wear a red hood which was removed at the start, and for Sub Lieutenant (IRE) to be mounted in the chute.
An enquiry was held to consider interference on the bend going into the back straight on the final circuit involving Sub Lieutenant (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Tabitha Worsley, Vivas (FR), which was subsequently pulled up, ridden by Paul O’Brien, and Gwencily Berbas (FR), placed third, ridden by Fergus Gillard.
Gillard was suspended for 5 days for careless riding for allowing his mount to drift right- handed without correction and when not sufficiently clear, causing Vivas (FR) to stumble, and Worsley to have to take a check against the rail.
