The Stewards requested a report from W.P. Mullins, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Causey Arch, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Ben Delmer, authorised representative of the trainer, reported that Causey Arch made a bad mistake at the first hurdle on his previous run which seemed to effect his confidence

He felt the smaller field today helped his charge. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

A novice hurdle for four yrs old and upwards which, at entry, are rated 113 or less also open to horses, which at entry, are rated 114123
Weights - 4-y-o 10st 5lb; 5-y-o and up 11st
Penalties - Performances before 1st May for every 1lb above the rating of 113 1lb extra; On or after 1st May for each hurdle race won 4lb extra; Horses that have not run three times over hurdles and/or do not have a published handicap hurdle rating may enter and run at the discretion of the handicapper provided their performances are rated 123 or less.
