See also » Tiger-Voice-wins-Corks-opener he did it the hard way in the end and it seemed messy early on. He didn't jump the last two amazingly but kept going well and he was really good. He was disappointing last year but when you stand in to him he is a big horse and is only filling out now. It definitely wasn't my best placing performance running him at Tipperary (behind yesterday's Grade B hurdle winner Janidil) but I just wanted to get him out and decided to kick on so it was nice to get back to his own age and he didn't have a winners' penalty either. There is a 4yo only winners' race at the end of the month for him at Gowran and that is a possible. Henry De Bromhead, trainer
The Stewards fined P.T. Flavin, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Allieyf (GB), in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Allieyf (GB) in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90
S.W. Flanagan, rider of Charlie Siringo trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was keen, hung badly and was subsequently pulled up
D.G. Hogan, rider of Wajaaha trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount gurgled from four out
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Wajaaha, ridden and trained by Denis Gerard Hogan
Evidence was heard from the rider/trainer concerned. D.G. Hogan stated that his intentions were to race mid field, allow his mount time to settle and ride to get the trip as most of the animals form is on the flat between 1 mile and 1 mile 4furlongs. He said his mount took time to settle early on, jumped deliberate over some hurdles and gurgled, which he had reported to the Clerk of the Scales, as required under the provisions Rule 213. He also stated that he was impeded by a faller in the home straight before staying on past tired horses. He concluded by stating that his charge needed a wind operation. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, who stated that Wajaaha had evidence of kickback at both nostrils, but was otherwise post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Wild Atlantic Lady (GB), ridden by A. McCurtin, and trained by John J. Walsh. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. A. McCurtin stated that his instructions were to settle his mount and to do the best he could. He said his mount jumped big over the first few hurdles and was hampered by a faller, which he had reported to the Clerk of the Scales. He further added that his mount ran green at times, got a bump at the fourth last which frighten her and was flat out all the way. John J
Walsh, confirmed the instructions given and expressed his satisfaction with the ride. He stated that his charge was a small individual, having her first run on soft ground in a big field of runners and all things considered he was happy with the performance. He felt that his charge was very green over the new hurdles and was unhappy that there is no facility available for trainers to school over this type of hurdle prior to racing. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, who stated that Wild Atlantic Lady had a minor wound on the lateral aspect of her right fore pastern, but was otherwise post race normal
Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered in relation to the running and riding of Wild Alantic Lady
Furthermore the stewards, while acknowledging that A. McCurtin had furnished a report to the Clerk of the Scales under the provisions of Rule 213, they were satisfied that he was in breach of Rule 213(ii) as the report was lodged to the Clerk of the Scales at 13.30, 17 minutes after the winner all right was signalled and 15 minutes after the officials had informed him of the impending enquiry and they were not satisfied that the reason for the delay was a valid one. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended A. McCurtin for 1 raceday
