Valentine Hill caused a bit of a shock here. She finished 19 lengths last of nine in a Group 3 contest on her previous start, but bounced right back to her best when outstaying her rivals for a comfortable success.

The well supported Maryellen's Spirit was sent to the front on the turn for home, but she ran out of steam when headed by the winner entering the final furlong and lost second near the finish. This was her seasonal debut and she is entitled to improve for the outing.

A similar remark applies to the runner-up Festival Princess. She took her time reaching top-gear, but was staying on well in the closing stages.

Daisy Mae Bates, a newcomer from the Ted Walsh yard, ran well. She challenged early in the straight before dropping out of contention, but certainly does not lack ability.
