Jumping the final fence, Higgs (IRE), placed second, jumped right-handed bumping Next Left (IRE), placed fourth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Higgs (IRE).
Following the race, Harry Skelton reported that Next Left (IRE), placed fourth, hung left-handed in the straight, and the Veterinary Officer reported that Next Left (IRE) and Walking The Walk (IRE), placed third, had both lost their right fore shoes.
