Unfortunately for us we have to get a lot of ours into handicaps whereas some of the bigger yards can drive on with them in maidens. The Stewards interviewed Nikita Amelia Kane, rider of Trueba, concerning her use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that she had used her whip excessively and apologised for her actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Nikita Amelia Kane was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered her record they suspended her for two racedays
The Stewards requested a report from Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Cyrus Dallin (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge appeared to benefit from a switch from the all weather surface onto grass today and felt this had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
