An enquiry was held to consider whether James Bowen, the rider of Lermoos Legend (GB), which having made a mistake at the third last fence and fell at the second last fence, should have continued in the race.
The rider was interviewed and recordings of the incident were viewed.
The rider’s explanation that the gelding had sufficient momentum approaching the second last obstacle but had lost concentration, having become slightly detached from the field, and had put in an extra stride at the fence which caused him to go through the top and fall, was noted.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Going Mobile (IRE), placed sixth, had lost its left- fore shoe.
Brian Hughes reported that Two Hoots (IRE), which was pulled up, had lost action and the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding was lame right-fore.
