Fly The Nest (IRE) wore earplugs in the preliminaries which were removed upon arrival at the start.
Upon leaving the stalls, French Twist (GB), drawn 11, placed sixth, jumped left-handed at the same time as Ubla (IRE), drawn 8, unplaced, jumped right-handed causing both Decoration Of War (IRE), drawn 10, unplaced, and Little Miss Lilly (GB), drawn 9, unplaced, to be tightened for room but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of French Twist (GB).
The winner Tanqeeb (GB) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Kempton on 29 November 2019 where the gelding finished last of the thirteen runners, beaten by 9½ lengths.
The representative of Ian Williams’ explanation that Tanqeeb (GB) had benefited from stronger handling by a senior rider on this occasion, was noted.
The gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Alistair Rawlinson reported that Decoration Of War (IRE), unplaced, hung right- handed throughout.
