HUME RIVER is a fine looking sort and put up a good display to win on his racecourse debut here. Always prominent, the winner led from three out before being pushed out for a comfortable win.
The gelding ran twice in point to points, for a different yard. He pulled up on his debut but started start favourite on his next start, when falling early on.
Jessica Harrington now trains the gelding and she later stated "he is a great big baby and will go chasing in the autumn."
HUME RIVER's dam is a half-sister to useful chaser Anabatic and the winner looks to have a bright future over fences.
Runner-up WHATEVER NEXT looked a promising sort when winning on his only point to point but has proven slightly disappointing over hurdles. However, this was his fourth start and he does appear to be improving slightly with each run. He will surely win races but chasing may be where his future lies.
PICK OF THE PIKE was making his hurdling debut and ran a very sound race. The bumper placed gelding can win over hurdles and appears to stay well.
REENS PIKE is rated 107 and may have run slightly below his mark. He can pick up an average maiden hurdle while CUAN AN OIR attempted to make all but wasn't good enough.
Coolcomin (ground) was a non-runner and so were two reserves.
