The Stewards interviewed T. Joseph Kelly, rider of Trenchtown Rock, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he had used his whip unnecessarily while out of contention. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that T. Joseph Kelly was in breach of Regulation 10.3 (b) (unnecessary use of whip when chances of winning or being placed are clearly gone). Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards suspended T. Joseph Kelly for 2 racedays.
