The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the home bend involving Smackwater Jack, ridden by Eoin G
Kelly, unplaced, Carrig Carol, ridden by Shane Fenelon, unplaced, and Aodhan May, ridden by P. Byrnes, placed first, where it appeared Carrig Carol had to check off Aodhan May causing Smackwater Jack to catch an upright of the rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Eoin G. Kelly stated that he felt pressure from his outside
Shane Fenelon stated that there was a gap there for him and he felt pressure from his outside and was squeezed out
Furthermore, he added that he gave a shout and confirmed there was contact. P. Byrnes stated that he was trying to get to the inside. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found P. Byrnes was in breach of Rule 214, in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard(second offence), the Raceday Stewards suspended P. Byrnes for four racedays.
