An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the final furlong when MR WAYGU (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Danny Redmond, interfered with Starter For Ten (GB), unplaced, ridden by Stephen Donohoe.
Redmond was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left- handed without sufficient correction causing interference to Donohoe which resulted in his mount becoming unbalanced.
The winner After John (GB), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at York on 25 July 2020 where the gelding finished twelfth of thirteen runners, beaten by 14 ¾ lengths.
Rebecca Bastiman’s representative explained that the gelding benefited for the drop in class and being ridden with more restraint on this occasion.
His explanation was noted and After John (GB) was routine tested.
