The horse loves getting in to trouble and he's due that win. We kept him on the team, he leads work at home and he'll pay his way. The other filly (Vivienda) is inexperienced, was a three-year-old racing against older hardened horses and it was her first time in a big handicap. There are plenty of days in her. G M Lyons, trainer
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Vassula Ryden, ridden by W.J
Lee, placed sixth, Pink Socks, ridden by Amy Jo Hayes, unplaced, and Elegant Madame, ridden by R. Whearty, placed second, where it appeared Pink Socks received a slight bump. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. W.J. Lee stated that his mount was not genuine and rolled left. Amy Jo Hayes stated that she kept a straight line, felt pressure from her inside and received a slight bump. R. Whearty stated that he maintained his racing line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action
The Raceday Stewards received a report from Mr. H. Hynes, Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that S. Foley, rider of Raknah, failed to present himself to weigh in following a fall at the road crossing after the finish. The Raceday Stewards were informed by Mr. P.F. Graffin, IHRB Clerk of the Course that the horse was still loose at the time of weigh in. Having considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that there was justifiable reasons for such failure as provided for under Rule 230(ii). The Raceday Stewards were also satisfied that S. Foley had weighed out at not less than his proper weight and accordingly confirmed the judges placings and took no further action.
