Permission was given for Tatterstall (IRE) to go early and wear a red hood to post.
Leaving the stalls, Good Earth (IRE), unplaced, jumped right-handed from the stalls taking Mountain Warrior (GB), unplaced, off its intended line which in turn, caused Russet Gold (GB), unplaced, to be checked off heels.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Good Earth (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider the circumstances surrounding why there was a football on the racing line as the runners approached the final furlong.
The Clerk of the Course was interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
He explained that all the pre-race checks were completed as normal and that the ball had been kicked onto the racing line after the race had started.
He further added that he would ensure that there were more staff patrols in the area in the future.
His explanation was noted.
Following the race, Rowan Scott reported that Mountain Warrior (GB), unplaced, was never travelling and Ray Dawson reported that Russet Gold (GB), unplaced, was slowly away and suffered interference shortly after.
