Prior to this race, Tom Dascombe was asked to explain the reason why he was running Sonic Blue (IRE) here at Redcar on going described as Good to Firm, as the trainers’ representative had reported that Sonic Blue (IRE) was unsuited by the Going following its run at Ripon on 5th June 2024 on ground officially described as Good.
Dascombe's explanation was noted that on reflection the ground may not have been the reason for the colts’ previous poor performance, therefore he was happy for the colt to take its chance.
Approximately one furlong out, Managing Director (IRE), placed fifth, lugged left-handed causing the rider of Rogue Endeavour (IRE), unplaced, to take a precautionary check.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Managing Director (IRE).
Approximately half a furlong out, Qaseem (IRE), placed second, shifted left-handed away from the whip giving a bump to the winner, Eighteen Fourteen (IRE).

Following the race, Joanna Mason reported that Peninsula Power (IRE), placed fourth, was slowly away and became unbalanced approximately one furlong out.
