The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Iron Port (IRE), which had never previously been placed, was considered.
Tom Weston explained that Iron Port (IRE) had benefited from a step up in trip from 2 miles 3 furlongs and 100 yards to 2 miles 7 furlongs and 70 yards on this occasion, in addition to further appreciating the good going here at Uttoxeter today, having raced on a surface with the official description as Heavy at Chepstow last time out.
His explanation was noted.
