Any time he's got good ground, he's run a good race and was was only beaten three-quarters-of-a-length on his last two runs.. I wouldn't call him a summer bumper horse, he's a bit better than that and he'll definitely have a little break. We might just call it a day because he won't go soft ground. He'll be a nice horse for next summer in all those festival meetings. My assistant Elaine owns him and it's her first winner. She has worked very hard with him and a lot of it is down to her. She's over the moon to get that. It's very seldom I come out the right side of a photo so I'll take it and we're delighted. Eoin Griffin, trainer
J.G. Gilligan, rider of Shamrock'n Roll trained by J.R.Finn, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran very free
S. Fitzgerald, rider of Bambeano trained by Mark Fahey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung violently left from the bottom of the straight
The Stewards interviewed J.G. Gilligan, rider of Shamrock'n Roll, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he had used his whip when out of contention, but felt it was not a bad case. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(b), the unnecessary use of the whip after his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Furthermore in light of the fact that the Stewards received a report from the I.H.R.B Veterinary officer that this horse was found to be clinically abnormal post race, the Stewards were also of the opinion that J. G. Gilligan was in breach of Rule 272(i). Having taken his previous record in this regard into account the Stewards suspended J. G. Gilligan for ten racedays
The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Ted Hastings, ridden by Mr. J.J. Codd, placed third, Dads Lad, ridden by Mr P.W. Mullins, placed sixth, King Kali, ridden by Mr M. McGuane, unplaced and Tout Savoir, ridden by Mr N.J. O'Mara, unplaced, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr. N.J. O'Mara, stated that his mount suffered interference from his outside
Mr. M. McGuane, stated that when his mount quickened it ran short of room from his outside. Mr. P.W. Mullins stated that his mount hung in this race and that the horse on his outer drifted inwards. He further added that when he let it known to the rider on his outside, he tried to straighten him up. Mr. J.J. Codd, stated his mount hung badly throughout and felt that he made an effort to keep his mount straight. He further accepted that the incident was caused by his mount and no other. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Mr. J.J. Codd was in breach of Rule 214(careless riding) and having considered his record, they suspended him for 3 racedays. Mr. M. F. O'Donoghue absented himself from this enquiry and was replaced by Mr. P. D. Deegan
